- Crotty today announced the results of DEC investigations into all known locations utilized for the storage or disposal of navigational dredged sediments from the Hudson River, including the use by private residents and some local governments of navigational dredge spoils contaminated with polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) that were removed from the Hudson River more than two decades ago and 10 navigational dredge spoil disposal sites in Rensselaer, Saratoga and Washington counties that were utilized prior to the removal of the Fort Edward Dam in 1973.
- "As part of DEC's ongoing efforts to address PCB contamination in the Hudson River and surrounding areas, we have conducted extensive investigations throughout the Upper Hudson River Valley into PCB contamination at navigational dredge spoil disposal sites and at other locations where materials containing PCBs were deposited," Commissioner Crotty said. ...
