• The Trade Council of Iceland was established in 1986 for the purpose of promoting exports and increase marketing awareness among Icelandic companies. It is Iceland's leading information provider and export oriented consultancy organization. Formed as a joint venture involving private companies and organizations from the public and private sectors, the Trade Council of Iceland is managed by a executive board of seven members. Five of those members are drawn from the private sector, with two appointed by the Government, to whom the Trade Council acts as an adviser on export-related affairs and foreign investment in Iceland.
• The Trade Council, in co-operation with the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, operates the Invest in Iceland Bureau, an organization specifically designed with the purpose of providing free advice and confidential service to outside investors.
